1. Public writing and the open licence
When you accept these Terms and contribute writing for public use, you license the rights you hold in accepted public turns, public corrections and their contributions to conversations, essays and translations under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0). Slopish offers the rights it holds in its contributions to that material under the same licence.
The licence allows copying, adaptation and commercial reuse. Reusers must give the required credit, link to the licence, indicate changes and share adaptations under the same or a compatible licence as the legal code requires. They may not add restrictions that take away the freedoms the licence grants. The licence is irrevocable for recipients who comply with it. The linked legal code governs the licence; this explanation does not replace it.
Only contribute material you have the right to share on these terms. Clearly identified third-party material retains its own notices and rights. We do not claim that all AI output has copyright. This writing licence does not license the Slopish software, name, logos, patents or private service records. Illustrations and imported material require their own applicable rights or licence notice.
2. Credit the shared work
We attribute the shared work rather than supplying public creator identities. For your contributions, you designate “Slopish” as the attribution party. A suggested credit is: “Title — Slopish — permanent Slopish URL — CC BY-SA 4.0.” Add a description of your changes and retain supplied source, licence and disclaimer notices. Linking to a page carrying those details may be a reasonable way to provide credit. This credit does not assert that Slopish owns the contributions.
An essay develops a conversation; a translation changes its language. Preserve those indications when reusing the work. Slopish also follows the share-alike conditions for the essays, translations and public revisions it distributes. Credit does not imply that Slopish or any contributor endorses your use. Separate credits supplied for third-party material must also be respected.
3. Research, commercial reuse and AI
Expect accepted public writing to be available for research, commercial reuse and AI training under the applicable licence and law. This includes complete accepted conversations, essays, public revisions and translations. Slopish may prepare, publish or sell structured collections and services around this open material. Other people have the same reuse freedoms; buying from Slopish does not buy exclusivity.
Research collections may link public material to records of the editorial process: model, prompt and policy versions; language and translation paths; published judgments and scores; screening outcome categories; processing durations, token use and costs. We review a release for private information and identification risks, and may omit, coarsen or aggregate fields. Exact timestamps and free-text internal reasons are not automatically safe to release. When we release research process records alongside the writing, the rights Slopish holds in those records are offered under CC BY-SA 4.0 too.
Private checker submissions, rejected or returned text that has not been restored publicly, reports, appeals, contact details, invite codes, payment identifiers and security or device signals are outside the open-content grant. We do not sell personal or sensitive user data or offer a buyer/device-to-writing profile. Store purchase information is not permission to sell it. Any later optional contextual field needs a clear purpose and notice before collection.
The open licence does not waive privacy, publicity or other rights it does not cover. It does not guarantee that model weights trained on the material must be open; the application of licence conditions to AI training and outputs depends on the use and the law.
These terms describe research using ordinary public contributions and the disclosed process records. They are not agreement to undisclosed behavioural experiments. A study that deliberately changes your experience for research, asks for surveys or follows you over time would have a separate invitation explaining its methods, risks, data and withdrawal options, with appropriate ethics review. Declining such a study would not remove ordinary access to Slopish.
4. Public does not mean anonymous
A detail in your writing can identify you or someone else. Do not post secrets or other people’s private information. Accepted writing may be copied by readers and researchers. Removing it from Slopish cannot reliably recall those copies or revoke a valid open licence. Personal-data rights still apply; contact us about privacy concerns.
The Privacy page describes the browser, usage, cost and moderation records used to run the service. History on your device is separate from server records. Clearing browser data does not erase server records or recover lost access to a credit code.
5. Participation, AI and moderation
AI screening, writing, translation and evaluation can be mistaken. Check factual claims and translations before relying on them. Permission to send text and context to AI providers is requested separately from this public-writing licence.
Do not use the service for deliberate abuse, harassment, spam or unlawful material. Screening may return a submission, and reviewed content may be hidden. Posting limits apply equally to gifted and paid credit; buying credit does not buy exemption from moderation. The Support page explains the current strike ladder, appeals and human contact.
A shared discussion does not give one participant a veto over another participant publishing an approved essay. Moderation and privacy requests are available to address harmful material. During private beta, code access and gifted credit are subject to the displayed limits; access expiry does not itself erase unused credit. No website purchases are offered in this beta.
6. Changes and contact
This contribution version is slopish-contribution-terms-2026-09-18. It grants CC BY-SA 4.0, not an automatic choice of any later licence. Adaptations may use versions or compatible licences that 4.0 itself permits. Future changes will be identified and presented before new contributions where a fresh agreement is needed. We cannot withdraw reuse rights already granted under CC BY-SA, and a later notice cannot retroactively authorize a new use of private data.
